Not Jon Snow's Tour

6 Mile

From 60 British pounds
The Sill: National Discovery Centre

Tour Description

We begin our journey at the Sill, then walk to Steel Rigg, famously called the most scenic car park in the UK. From there, we head west to east, following a breathtaking path north of Hadrian’s Wall. Along the way, we pass Crag Lough, with an awe-inspiring view of the Whin Sill and Hadrian’s Wall atop, the very landscape that inspired George R.R. Martin’s Ice Wall in Game of Thrones. Our path leads us past a 19th-century lime kiln as we join the Pennine Way, switching to the southern side of the Wall. We then cross Highshield and Sycamore Crags, both offering spectacular views, before arriving at Sycamore Gap—where the iconic tree stump still stands. Here, we’ll seek out the hidden Roman carving on the Wall and visit Peel Gap Tower, an unmarked turret steeped in history. To conclude, you'll have the unique opportunity to hold an authentic Roman artifact, and you’ll receive a custom map of the route as a keepsake. After the tour, you can relax and enjoy lunch at the Sill Café or the Twice Brewed Inn. The route covers approximately 6 miles, with lower paths taken where needed for comfort and accessibility.
